WHY THE WISE ARE SO QUIET

Words of wisdom
Are spoken softly
In undertones
That one must discern
To comprehend
The speech of the foolish
Is loud with vulgarity
Because they believe
That no one pays
Attention to the
Underneath.
Wisdom is as clear
As a running brook
Of melted snow
Upon the tongue
To those who are wise
Who take the time
To understand
What they are hearing
But are obscure riddles
Of a muddied pool
Of trampled pathways
In heavy traffic areas
To those who themselves
Are not wise,
For wisdom takes work,
Practice and patience
And a fool wants
Things easy, quickly
And without skill.
So listen the next time
Someone speaks to you
And listen how they
Wish to relay their
Information
And see how and if
They expect you
To listen to them
As they speak
And you will see
How they receive you
When you indeed speak
Yourself.
