In Admiration Of One Who Succeeded

lo to chase one's dream
the sacrifice comes upon
those things that
bring comfort, security
and a pleasant
memory that can not
be attained in the pursuit.
one at times must leave
that which would sustain
to risk to find that which
will fulfill,
to leave that which
holds memory
in the clutches of serenity
to pursue that which is
unsure, unknown
and not given.
to sit on the banks
of a cement river
in flashes of memories
of fish caught
in childhood bliss
on grassy banks
of that which had
to be sacrificed
for that which is longed
to be attained
look not in jealousy
of those who pursue
their dreams
yet respect in silent
admiration of what
they must leave
to become what
they seek to be,
look upon any who
chase that which
brings more to others
then ever it brings
themselves
and look upon
the memory of
a cement river
and a boy
wishing to feel
the grass between
his toes
and to catch
just one more fish.
